You mentioned the price is the seller's asking price...why not make an offer based upon the PPI, knock $2500 off and offer $6000-$6500 and see what happens? What have you got to lose? It looks like a nice, clean car from the photos.

I've contacted the seller with a discounted price based upon the PPI (less than 50% of the listed items). We shall see. . . Last edited by ke6dcj; 08-25-2007 at 08:08 PM. |

Where are you located?
Will consider selling mine.
'87 300TD 242K. 3rd seat. Burgundy with Palomino interior. I bought it in 01 at 212K I put 30 K on it in 6 years. Everything works. Yes I said everything. Kentuckey car, has been in Va since. All records since new. Spent 8400.00 to bring it where I wanted it in the first 3 months. No kidding. I cannot begin to list what has been R&R ed. If you are close to Virginia you can look at the reciepts. My total since is 6 or 7 thousand. Again no kidding. PO had it resprayed, paint is good. One of those things, I have spent soo much on this car it is not really worth it in dollars to anyone else. Just don't really need the car any more. Anyway, been thinking about selling it. Just don't want to go throught the trouble. Just had service done. Needs a couple of small things. Shock tower bushing, washer pump. E-mail me for info. Thanks B |

Just a quick note on pricing... the wagons command a premium compared to the 87 sedans. Also, this was the last diesel wagon EVER imported by Mercedes to the USA. Prices in the $8-$12k are not uncommon, nor outrageous, as long as the car has no serious problems. It boils down to if you really want a diesel wagon. The gassers are much cheaper. I think this one looks fairly decent, and if you're willing to DIY fix the bunch of little things, it could be a decent deal. I would try to get them down on the price, something more around $7k. You'll easily end up putting $2-$3k into the car to make everything work like when it was new...

Hello to the forum.
I followed this car on Ebay and attempted to ask the seller a few questions before bidding. He didn't answer so I didn't bid. I would have gone as high as $8,200 based on his original description, but had I bought it (based on your excellent PPI results) I would have been disappointed and felt I overpaid. I take it that you didn't buy the car because it was listed again today and sold with "Buy It Now" for $10,000! I am also looking to buy one of these 87 wagons but the prices are insane. To his credit, your seller did encourage a PPI, but a better description was needed for informed bidding. |

Based on the PPI that Neil had, I think $10k is a little high. I would have been disappointed had I received the car with that many things wrong for 10k. Oh well. Might be interesting to watch the eBay feedback after the buyer gets the car...
