Mileage on the W210 is stored in the computer not the cluster. The cluster is just a display that reads the stored odometer reading value from the computer.

So changing the cluster will not impact the displayed mileage.

At least that's the way I understand it works.

I dont think so because the carfax showed a higher mileage at a previous date on a consistent basis. It wasn't a one time fluke and the odometer is definitely lower and from a gasoline car so it's been changed. So maybe they also changed the computer but more likely I think the cluster stores the mileage.
