I think I am starting to get the ALDA's job now, too

So, just like you said it is a fuel limiting device (I had it backwards.) I guess when flooring the gas pedal, the 'gap' between the 'half moons' inside the ALDA eventually closes (by that spring, maybe?) as the turbo is spooled up and ready and then off we go with full load... Thanks!
