I've had real good luck with Trans-X, both in transmissions and power steering pumps.

i can pull it in 1hr (did it 3 times in a couple weeks). once tranny is out there is about 8 bolts in the bell housing then it's free. my proceedure is listed below:
1 support trans with jack/piece of wood under the pan 2 remove trans mount (makes removing flex disc easier) 3 move all 6 flex disc bolts (15 and 17mm) and carefully pry out flex disc 4 remove intermediate drive shaft 5 remove shifter linkage, vac mod line, neutral safety harness, kickdown wire 6 remove trans cooler lines (19 or 17mm) and 4 hex bolts holding the lines 7 tie lines out of the way 8 remove flywheel dust shield (2x 10mm bolts) 9 remove bellhousing flywheel lock (black plastic piece 9mm?) 10 remove tranny to engine bolts 17mm's + two 10mm hex for the starter 11 wiggle tranny back and forth until it breaks from the torque converter 12 lower tranny with jack an inch at a time and pulling away from engine at the same time note mine does not have a bowden cable. this is for a 300d euro. attempt at your own risk

Trans-X worked wonders on a 87 300d I had. It was shifting real hard until I added trans-x .
