just bot 87 300sdl have questions
Hey and thanks for helping.
'87 300sdl 163k questions: first off, should i take it to a shop and have it checked for problems hood to trunk? ac isnt cold and i live in florida... how can i fix that? ive read the articles on if the turbo isnt working or the slow 0-60 speed.. what should i do to check and see if its running slow and/or if the turbo isnt working? antenna isnt going up.. is it the motor located right under it? if so how easy to fix it? is it neccessary to install a boost gauge? it does look neat. i havent owned a benz b4, but the shifting is a tad hard.. what things can i do to check this? when i bought new tires, the mechanic said i need a new center link... do those really go bad? what's the news on bio-diesel and smelling like a french fry? is it worth it? thanks frankee. |

Wrong forum, post in the disel forums might better answers. But I have a sdl so Ill input some ideas here.
If you dont knowhow to work on cars or very limited then yeah bring it a mechanic who knows the cars well. Just look for obivous stuff such as leaks, inspect the belt. AC- get the ac recharged and make sure all the ac components are working. The ac is very good in the sdl. The car isnt gasoline so its not gonna have the pickup of a gasoline mercedes. The car is so at start but once its gets going it really goes. Take the car on the highway and wind it up, thats a good test of the turbo. With a diseal you are not gonna go 0-60 in like 5 or 6 seconds. Antenna-It maybe something with the motor or could something with the switch in the console. Getting another Antenna motor should solve your problems. Boost gauge- Prefernce, But I dont think it would look good would it. Its not a mustang, its meant to be a classy car. Shifting-It could be the transimission showing its age or you try adjusting shifting by adjusting the vacuum modator at the tranny I would get the center links checked out or replace them yourself. Just because a mechanic says replace this or that part doesnt mean its bad. Hes most likely pedaling for business from you. Regular dieseal is fine, but you get more mileage from the tank with bio dieseal so its up to you. Mines got 202k miles and is smooth as baby. Dealershipe cared for all its life.
