I dont remember how to lower the idle on the 5cyl. turbo diesels,81-85,mine idles close to 1000 rpm for some reason, its not like the newer ones,6 cyl.,86-87 with the knob in front of the brake master cylinder. Is there any adjustment at the pump?

Yes, there is an adjustment bolt on the side of the IP, between it and the head. A long bolt head looking thing, there is a lock nut on the bottom. I think the idle should be at 750 rpm.

I installed a tiny tach like 2 weeks ago i was curious if the adjustment was cold or normal operating temp? And does it vary any from when u first start to when it warms up? mine seems to show like 60-70 rpm diff or so it would seem thanks

aargus445, adjusting cold is fine, I'm not familiar with a "tiny tach", are you sure it's providing an accurate reading?
