Strange rattle fixed...
So I've had this rattling noise for a week or so now. Coming from the passenger side. Bad when I hit bumps but just a hint of it as I am rolling over smooth pavement. It almost seemed like it was coming from the brakes or inside the hub/bearings.
Today I took a looksie. I jacked up the front passenger side and spun the wheel. Sure enough, I can hear slight metal on metal. I took the wheel off and grabbed the brake dust shield. Loose as a goose! I had to pull the caliper and rotor off and then I found one bolt intact but loose with the head a little chewed up. The others were gone. Well, the heads were snapped off. I just put new rotors on a year or so ago with new wheel bearings. I never noticed them being loose. I tried to find something on the inside of the rotor that would hit the heads to snap them off. NOTHING. Not even a knick or hint of any kind of abrasion. I put in a new bolt with lock washer and prayed that it will hold until I can get in there and drill out the two remaining screws. Weird!
