Compression Tester
Just thought I would pass this on. Recently I bought that US General Compression Tester from Harbor Freight. It is really a nice kit and has fittings to do a compression test on every automotive diesel. But I did find very quickly that the components are not steel, and if you drop them they can't be retrieved with a magnet. Also, the 90 degree couple which has to be used one the 617 to get into the glow plugs behind the IP, is a very weak piece. Mine broke the third time I used it. So I had to find a replacement. It is not metric in the fittings, though the ends that screw into the glow plug holes would be metric. So the fitting is a quarter inch 90 degree swivel, and the NAPA part number is WH C5506 X4. The NAPA fitting is also made in China, but has the strength to last a long time. Cost here 10 19 07 $6.49 plus tax.
