Keys locked in trunk of '82 300CD

Hi. I locked my keys - both of them! - in the trunk when I was hunting for a package. Auto Club's locksmith wants $400 to make a new key! HELP! I just bought this car on Saturday from the legendary Enrique of Tarzana. I'm certain someone on this site knows the magic words/deeds to open the trunk. Thanks. Bunny244

bunny244, call or go to your local MB dealer and order a new key. You will need proof of ownership which will list the VIN which the dealer needs to order the new key. Advance payment may be required also. A new key will arrive in a couple of days.

There was a post a few months back where the guy had the same problem. seems he took out the first aid kit, and with a stick he reached through the hole to release the trunk. never tried it & don`t remember the users name. maybe do a search on the subject.

An option (though not the best option) is to break a tail light and go in that way.

Insted of breaking an expensive tailight, why not just order a new key from the dealer? They cost all of $20 and its always good to have a spare key around, for situations like this...

If you order it today you should have by Friday or Monday.

Yeah the Mercedes dealer will charge you $20-30 for a brand new key if you have the registration and VIN #.

Smile Thank You...

Hi There...just a quick thanks to all of you who responded to my plea for help. I called Enrique this A.M. and either he'll be able to get another key from the previous owner, plus he's already ordered another key from Mercedes. Just bought the car from him on Saturday... I'll post a photo in the next few days. It's so cool; like Enrique it's a real find. One owner, 105,000 on the odometer; all original -even the stereo!

I'm glad you got a solution, but it does leave me wondering why the previous owner kept a key to your car.

BTW, a brass copy is a useful thing to keep tucked into the corner of a purse or wallet just in case. Great in a pinch but not good for everyday use.

The same was my problem except I had no key that fit the car from purchase.I also went in at it from the inside of the car to the trunk but took the back seat out ,you still have the tank in the way but its doable.Man ,I found alot of change back their ,paid for lunch that day.I did end up taking the lock mechanism out for the mean time till I can get a key to fit the trunk lock.

The 123's and 126's both came from the factory with an emergency key that was a standard MB key, but it was just the metal part, it didn't have the plastic part. I used up the one from my 300CD (took it to the MB dealer and had them put the plastic on it), but we've still got the one from the 300SD.

Mity Vac on the trunk lock vacuum line located under the rear seat.

I've heard this is the way it's done.

Heck, don't even need a mity vac if you aren't scared. Remove the passenger side carpet, locate the yellow line with green stripe going back. Suck on that line, and the trunk will unlock. Go back and push the button, and should open.
