Window 300CD question,
I am bummed.
I have always seen pictures of what I thought are pillarless 300CDs with the wide open look of all 4 windows rolled all the way down..........(into the frame.) So today I picked up my 82 300CD from the indie I had replace my rear pass motor on, and he tells me the rear windows of the CDs were not designed to go all the way down. Only 3/4 or so. To me this is a great dissappointment. Is he right, or is there some kind of German kids safety lock switch I don't know of stashed somewhere????? .....

he's not right
Mine go down all the way into the body (well the one that works)
One side is broken, but the other travels down all the way into the frame, and disappears from sight.

Only one type - I've had a '79 and an '84 and they all go all the way down - the Indie is BS'ing you. While pushing the switch, give the window some gentle help and see if goes further down - once in awhile I need to do that with one of mine - then I need to open it up and regrease the guide.

What does the regulator do, exactly? Does it regulate the high and low extents of the window's movement? That's what it sounds like. My rear windows will sometimes slip down a little bit by themselves. I was told this may be due to a worn out regulator.

If your window slips, it's probably due to worn out teeth on the regulator. The rear window (the one that works) on my CD retracts fully.
