I've had good luck with the generic Group 49 batteries from the McParts stores too. The white ones are correct, but I just treat them as a maintenance part that I'm going to replace every few years anyway. Same reason I don't bother with OEM windshields.

Pat bob ,thats my post from this year.I wouldnt of believed it if I didnt witness it first hand .Im not trying to be some kind of spokesman for the stuff ,just know it worked for me ,not on just one car but two .These were low compression problems on both cars,I was finally getting to the bottom of my no start issues when I resorted to the Rislone product. The numbers were severly low ,to low for a start ,this product brought those numbers back up and both cars are still running drivers.I add a bottle of the rislone to each oil change and the only problem Ive had to date is the 78 300cd wont start on its first glow ,Ive come to let it go thru 2 cycles of glow before kicking it off,the 84 300cd startes right up .Im guessing these cars setup for a while before I purchased them ,the end result came out in my favor.Carboned up rings is a possible .My steps of getting both cars going are in that old post, simple but effective if youve come across some low compression issues.

Oil, fuel, coolant additives, can be good. All oils have "additives", the better ones have more.

The additives typically cost more than the oil, profits suffer if low-price oil gets lots of premium additives.

There are bad additives also, IMO anything containing PTFE/Teflon should never go in an internal-combustion engine's crankcase or fuel unless you like sticky rings. Good stuff until exposed to the heat of combustion or a hot turbo. Don't just put anything with a shiny sticker and spectacular claims in your engine, research is a good thing.

Micro-scratches can be filled, if an engine is tired it isn't IMO a bad thing to try and extend its life. If it's a rebuild or a can of Rislone, I'd try the Rislone first (or at least ask around for first-hand experiences).

Can it be that these things in a bottle just thicken the oil so it doesn't leak as much, etc, etc and gives the illusion of fixing something while separating you from your money?

Getting into the chemistry, some things work. I'm a believer in MoS2 in engine oil, in synthetics, know that some fluids cause more seal swell than others, ... the chemistry is real but it's hard to tell the science from the BS sometimes.
