What weight can a 300d tow.

Just curious ,had thought about buying a vintage trailer,it requires alittle more than a few things ,an old boles aero ,early sixties era.Im curious about the pulling ability of my 85 300d ,around 1500lbs?The trailer Im looking at is 15ft with one axle ,1800lbs is about right.

No more than 250lbs tongue weight but it should be kept under 200lbs.

I've got a thread on here somewhere about pulling a heavy load with my 85TD over the Rockies last spring. Can't remember the numbers but if you find it you'll have a good idea. My turbo boost/alda line was disconnected at the time. I'd want brakes on the trailer you describe I think. If it doesn't have them, I think they can be retrofitted. NorthernTool sells the parts.

According to DOT standards: 1/2 the weight of towing vehicle.

That sounds about right (maybe too high), put 250 pounds at the back of the trunk and see how much the rear sags. Personally, I would use something else as a tow vehicle. IMHO, these do not look good with hitches installed.

SRJ, do some research on towing limits before you post trolling replies on subjects you probably don't know anything about. Can you actually post helpful replies or is trolling all you are capable of?

Class I
Gross trailer weight- up to 2,000 lbs
Tongue weight- up to 200 lbs

Class II
Gross trailer weight- up to 3,500 lbs
Tongue weight- up to 300 lbs

Class III
Gross trailer weight- up to 5,000 lbs
Tongue weight- up to 500 lbs

Class IV
Gross trailer weight- up to 10,000 lbs
Tongue weight- up to 1,000 lbs
