The interior is nicer than most houses, Swan is known for their awsome wood work. Lots of mahogany and teak work.

Get the magazine Cruising World. Thats the lifestyle I want to live, drifting from port to port meeting interesting people and talking boats.

So, when are you going to buy it?

Hatterasguy 12-27-2007 12:22 PM

Probably 10-15 years. I'm going to snag a 3-4 family house then put all the rents towards paying off the mortgage. When thats paid sell it, buy the boat.

By that time I should have enough income producing property to be able to go sailing for a few years. Since its cheaper to live in the rest of the world your cost of living goes down, but the cost of maintenance on the boat does not.:D

Craig 12-27-2007 12:28 PM

Speaking of maintenance, have you every considered a wooden boat?

Hatterasguy 12-27-2007 01:54 PM

I don't want a full time job, on top of everything else. To keep an almost 60ft wooden boat in top shape you either need to be retired or hire a full time captain and mate.

If you are retired you could keep a large wooden boat in good shape with just yourself and a couple of part time helpers.

You will spend $20k a year taking care of a glass boat like that Swan, thats if you do a lot yourself.

Yup, but some things (like sailboats and baseball bats) are just supposed to be made from wood. ;)

I love wooden boats, and if you have the time or money go for it!:D

Though I'm not supposed to mention their name in this forum, "Performance Products" has pages, and pages of these things in their catalogues, in EVERY variation you could imagine. Even with "Tiptronic" features.
