Does anyone know which company makes these steering wheels?
I want one with Zebra wood, damn thats nice! Look at that shift knob as well! I saw one of these wheels on a W210 and its really nice. The S600's came with them from the factory. Maybe next year, talk about a nice interior upgrade.

I dunno. We had a beautiful zebrano wooden shift knob on our old 300SDL, and my mom sewed a leather cover over the steering wheel... I highly recommend those "wheelskin" things if you don't want to spend 400 bucks on wood. These old MBs have nasty rubbery feeling steering wheels IMO and the leather wraps feel so much nicer.

Whatever I do has to look factory. These wheels, at least the ones in W210's that I have seen look just like the factory S600 wheels.

There are plenty of leather wrapped steering wheels from the factory.

True, thats what they did in the 560. Might be a good temporary option, I'll do an ebay search.
I have sewn them onto sailboat wheels, probably about the same. ![]()

Looks like $38 shipped, might give it a try. The $450 wood wheel is probably 2-3 years away, but a 560SEL looking leather wheel I can afford. ![]()

The burl trimmed wood wheel would look good in any Mercedes with burl trim.
There was a Nardi wheel for a W123 on ebay a few months back complete with a Mercedes horn button. It looked really sleek and I was really tempted to get it but I resisted. ![]() It looked very similar to this one. ![]()

Here is another supplier of covers I found a while ago, they look to be reasonable quality:

That all wood wheel is beautiful, that`s my favorite.
there use to be a lady about 10 yrs back that had a burgundy w116 sel with the wood wheel, might have been a Nardi. she sold the car, and the next owner trashed it. haven`t seen it for a long time. The E-Bay prices seem way out of line. Charlie

Hand fatigue from a single 1.5 hour trip in my 300D has me very interested in wheel options. I've seen those Nardi wheels, and they're beautiful, but I wonder now how thick they are compared to the original wheels.
I haven't had much luck in finding wheel options so far, but I did see a web site for a company which makes wheels like the one shown on the ebay listing. They're all customised stock wheels, and they can apparently do it for any wheel which you are willing to send their way. Too expensive to be an option for me, as I wouldn't pay $400+ for a steering wheel, even if I had just won millions playing the lottery.

I had a Nardi wooden wheel in my 300D for a while. It was about 2 inches smaller in diameter (they make em in different sizes though) than the schoolbus wheel, which I liked but that means it blocks the speedometer at certain speeds so I'd have to arch my neck to read it.
The wheel was not nearly as thick as the OEM wheel. But since it was so much smaller it seemed to make the power steering boost lower so the steering seemed more precise and positive. If anyone wants the steering wheel I got it for sale.

From the look of it in the photo, I believe it is "burlwood", ... plastic with a burled wood finish and a leather wrap. I used to buy them for all of my coaches from www.vipwheel.com, no they don't make car wheels.
For that money I'm pretty confident it's not real burled wood.

I have a burlwood wheel with matching shift knob in my SEC. I was told that a company in Germany took the OEM wheels cut them and added the wood. Not sure if that's true or not but it looks pretty good.
