Engine cut-off

My engine sometimes cuts off (with a shudder) after running for approx 10s when started for the first time in the morning regardless of the ambient temp. However it stays running with a slight pressure on the gas pedal and then proceeds to idle smoothly. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes, perhaps an air leak into the system, under more throttle is overcome with fuel.

Had the same problem with my 83 300D. Thought it was air in the lines but it turned out to be one glow plug had a loose nut from when I changed it. Might check for a bad glow plug.

I checked all the visible hoses in the engine bay for air/fuel leaks. I replaced the clear filter (6 months ago) but have never touched the canister filter or the RD bolt. I might add that the engine starts and idles normally when warm. What other areas can I inspect for air/fuel leaks?

My engine also does that on occasion, and only on really cold mornings when it does do it. We're talking low 30's and 20's, and no block heater, so I never really thought it to be anything to fret over. I also think I have a weak injector, which I'm sure aids to that issue.
