Changed ATF and Filter - What's this Clip?

Greetings - I changed my transmission fluid and filter today (+ oil/filter, engine shock mounts - but that's another story for another day). I also drained the torque converter.

I found this snap clip at the bottom of my oil catch bucket and I'm not sure if it's part of the transmission. I put everything back together but haven't added the tranny fluid yet, in case I have to open it up again.

Does anybody know if this is part of the transmission?

I think the transmission is a 722.1.

Thanks,
bigmaq
