#18 complete except for injectors, has a little bit of corrosion around the water jacket passages and the valve seats are more worn than the other heads I have - $400

#22 missing cam (it was too rusty to use so I left it at the yard, but the caps are still with the head) and injectors but otherwise complete - $500

#22 complete except for injectors -$750

The last one I'm keeping in case I need it for my 300SDL.

They all have the old style prechambers as far as I know, and I have a few sets of injectors and lines, $60 each for a set of either. The lines are hard to find because core harvesters cut them to pull the injection pump within a day or two of the car showing up in the yard, even though it only takes 10-15 minutes to remove them properly.

I've noticed this in other areas and on other models where competition for parts is fierce. I was in Liberty MO several months back where a 98 Jetta TDI had been junked, the engine bay was stripped clean despite the fact that the car had been junked due to broken timing belt...so there was basically nothing except for a few small baubles for me to get.

Then I turned and looked at the neighboring vehicle and on the inner fender under the hood stood the injection pump from the Jetta, a Bosch reman IP, and yes, the lines had been cut at the union nuts rather than pulled off like a normal person would have done.

I think it had been left by mistake, who would have bothered to remove it and then leave it sitting under the hood of another car?

Needless to say I have it now, filled with PS and sealed off on the shelf for when I need it.

Another common one is people unbolt just the front of a W126 seat and bend it back to pull the motors rather than unbolting the back too, if you have a 10mm universal socket that also only takes less than 15 minutes extra to do without ruining stuff.

Around here if you're an MB fan (there don't seem to be many) you're typically in pretty good shape. While I've seen seats unbolted and bent back I've not seen that in MB cars, then again where I visit most there aren't a whole lot of MB cars that come in.

The other thing is that the cars that come to the upull here are really only in the yard for 30 days so you pull everything you need now because when it's gone...it's gone. It's a really horrible situation and it's not good for ROI on the parts side, but mostly their biz is catalysts and crushed car bodies so they don't care much...if at all. I buy what I can but I'm not out to be a hoarder....

And since I would bet that the 94 S350D is the only 603.971 that will ever make it to this yard I decided to buy the whole drive train...since it's only got 81k miles.

It would be nice if we knew at what date these replacements were all installed, then they would add to the history of what was available and when.

I love that green btw, there was years ago a 300SD for sale in WI in green with matching green interior....beautiful.

I checked today on the replacement engine, the cylinder head is a #22, so they were using the #22 cylinder head by February 5th of 2002 when the new engine was installed.
