Air intake elbow troubles
Ever since I bought new replacement seal rings for the air intake elbow, it simply does not want to go on straight so the rings fit in properly. I'm aware it's a stupidly easy-functioning part, but it's not wanting to co-operate.
Also I noticed there is a thick coat of oil in the elbow, and a small puddle in the air intake box. I've completely cleaned these a few times, yet every time I open it back up they're coated again. Is there even supposed to be oil pooling up at the bottom of the box? It doesn't seem right to me.

I've had the problem with the elbow not fitting, slipping off, etc. I finally just bought a new elbow. Hasn't given me any problems since. That rubber/plastic just gets really brittle and deformed due to its location next to the exhaust manifold and turbo. As far as the oil pooling in the air cleaner, I'm not sure about the W126 box, mine 300D has some around the oil separator, not an extreme amount or anything. The inside of the elbow will get oily depending on the amount of blowby u have.

Heh, I wish I only had a small puddle of oil in the elbow.
On my car, it tends to pool rather than puddle. As it was just said above, it's blowby related. Mine looks like a locomotive if I pull the oil cap while it's running! Now to get the SEC running so I can take the SD off the road long enough to fix this issue!
