Mechanical engineer, I inspect bridges and movable bridge machinery. Its pretty filthy work sometimes...I have a newfound respect for the hawks that eat pigeons...even if they dive-bomb bridge inspectors. And in the office (between report writing) its machinery design..bridge machinery.

Here's a nice day in Detroit...

Trucking business. Currently fleet manager, used to wrench on 'em, then drove full time for several years as an owner operator. Still drive or fix them once in awhile when needed. Oil field before that. Diesel is more than fuel, it's a way of life.

Interesting stuff. Makes me feel kinda dirty finding out what you all do for beer $.

I'll be the second to admit to having not gotten a paycheck in many years. I'm the sole shareholder of a company that markets and sells various financial and insurance products to larger corporations. I don't work a regular schedule anymore but K1 income sneaks up on you and easily becomes a way of life.

For kicks, there's my Benz habit...both newer and old, gassers and diesels. The old diesels really get me going, though. I hate new cars as a rule but buy and sell the older ones pretty regularly.

I'm insanely proud so I'll stick this out there. My wife just delivered our first. A bouncing baby girl. Aside from the cars, this is sure to be where my funds go from now on.

You just won. Such a good band, wish they were still around.

I'm still not even 100% sure what my job title is. I create 3D renderings for products to be used in catalogs or websites. Usually it's for a product that isn't developed enough to take pictures of. Other cases are when something may exsist, but the shot you want is physically impossible. Basically, I take pictures of things that don't yet exsist. Maybe that's a bit over the top, since there's nothing too new or special about the whole thing.

What do you do for a living?

A thread with the same title on the SL forum inspired this, but I'm pretty sure we diesel heads are much more likely to be broke/low/lower income than the SL owners, and that made me curious as to what folks do.

I'll start. I currently work on the production crew at a junk yard (looking for a better job), and am a second class Construction Mechanic in the Navy Reserve. Before that I was an automotive test engineer at a testing facility near my current home.
