Dash light - brake wear indicator at just over 31K miles after brake replacement?
Just wanted to see if this seemed normal. It's been too cold to pull the front wheels to take a look, but my brake wear indicator is going off on the dash now under braking after only 31K miles (just looked at my maintenance log). When I did front brakes last I did new rotors, pads, bearings, and pad sensors.
When these sensors go off - I'd guess you still have some good life left in the pads. Hopefully it will warm up this weekend and I can get a peek. Just wanted the team's opinion if that was a normal life for pads (mostly city driving here in Dallas area).

I haven't worn out a set of front pads on a Benz, but I used to do a lot of brake jobs on various brands and 40,000 seemed to be about the usual life span for fronts. Rears usually lasted a bit longer.

It all depends on your driving habits.

I normally get about 40K miles on the fronts with mostly highway driving, 30K doesn't sound too bad for city driving.

Yes, have a look, take a measurement. May be a sensor wire.

Closing the loop
The answer was - yes - the car needed front brakes. The brake pad sensors worked like they should!
Though I have done the job before, it is a PITA project. I love the car, but wheel bearing and separating the rotor from the hub/carrier is laborious. One thing that I did notice when I was working on the car is that the lower oil cooler hose is weeping now to the point that the inside rim on the driver's wheel is getting a coat of oil. Drat. It has just been wet for a while, but evidently something changed since the last oil change. Jimmy - you'll get a chance to see the garage if you want to help me tackle this job!

31K is good if it's the SD. I change the fronts on both the CD and SD every 24K-30 and the rears with every other front pad change.

For city driving, 31K is good.
