If the neutral safety goes bad, you can start the car by jumping here
also.

Charlie
that would be awesome, IF that was on my car, but unfortunately, i do not have the terminal block or a box at all.

The fact that you were able to crank it at the solenoid eliminates the ground from suspicion. It has to be either the key switch or neutral safety switch. Try moving your shifter to neutral and back to park while holding the key switch in start position.

That eliminated the starter, but the ground could still have been in trouble is all i was implying. ie, rusted bad connection, frayed. etc.
But luckily it was still in decent shape. i did remove it to make sure there was sufficient contact with the body.
Next i moved over to the nss and noticed finally with enough light under there that the connector was almost hanging off. Pushed it back in and voila, it starts no problem now.
So my question is for those people who have changed one out and mention the bayonet lock on the electrical connection. Mine DOES NOT have that kind of connector. Its just a regular multipin connector with a lock at one end. So does someone have a good picture of what their connector looks like. Im just curious as to why mine is different.
