new nozzles from Sean and wow
hi all,
just wanted to let everyone know i got a set of those monark nozzles from Sean here on our forum and wow what a difference. He mailed them right out to me and included 5 new heat shields all for $116.50 with shipping. Installed them this morn and saw the difference right at startup. Smooth as silk and less smoke. No more holding it up over idle till it smoothes out. These were installed in a 83 617 turbo motor with at least 230K on it I can highly recommend them and Sean was honest and fast. Worth trying them at that price. Mike |

Thank you both.
But, PLEASE do that pop test when you get the chance. It'll make me sleep easier. ![]()

Yes,
Just follow the FSM procedure.
But here is an interesting thing I learned just after I got my 300. In a German print, late 80s edition FSM, the service interval for injectors. *might not be exactly verbatim* "At 100,000Km, remove injectors and test for spray pattern and pressure. Injectors must be replaced if spray ejection pressure is under 130 bar or spray is poor [illustration]. New injectors must be between 135-145 bar [this manual was specific to turbo] Injectors must have equal ejection pressure + or - three bar..." "If the owner complains of engine noise and/or exhaust smoke after C service, confirm no mechanical component failure...[listed troubleshooting page] ensure correct injection and valve timing. If noise or smoke persists, replace injectors..." Manual continues procedure same as the English edition. I have never seen this page in a CD edition manual and the owner would not sell me the book. I tried to get the ISBN but it was a binder edition and was made for dealerships.

Sean are these nozzles made with the pintle holes just like the originals or are they like the Bosios? Seems I read that the Bosios deviate from the original design somewhat.

I just got a set from Sean (thanks!), but haven't installed them yet.
I don't know if they differ in design from Bosios ( although I have a set of Bosios, but I never looked at them very closely). These Monarks (GERMANY) are not cross drilled like the original Bosch design. Somewhat surprisingly (to me) they have a flat area on one side of the tip where the crossdrilling on the Bosch would be. Seems odd to me, but what do I know.... Now if I can only get custody of the wife's car for half a day..... Rick

They do not have pilot holes
Quote:
This was a design revision, among others, that resulted in better mileage, performance and less emissions. Bosch did away with the SD240 pilot hole some time ago as well. The purpose, I'm told by a few 'ye olde timers ![]() HERE IS YET ANOTHER tidbit of information listed in the German manuals and catalogs but NOT in the English ones. I have seen in two sources {paraphrase} "The following; SD 261 and 265 are recommended for retrofit where SD 240 is specified."
