I just figured that any sounds she could eliminate would make it easier to hear earlier if the oil situation got worse and something let go so she could respond sooner. This is beginning to feel like I’m trying to get one of my kids home and she has car trouble and that happens more often than you would think with my oldest living 3000 miles away at the moment.

I wish I could have been closer to where she was going to give it a quick look over. Here's pulling from a distance.

If only all the Denver area members could line up their cars on the east side of town on I-70 and lead the victory ride into town.

Kerry, you're such a girl.

That is a cool idea though....but I'd want to drive ahead of our dear friend Ginny (oil is hard to get off the front of my 240).

Anyway - Ginny - good luck and I hope to log-in tomorrow AM and hear some good news.

You're welcome. Always glad to help.

I'm just kidding..........I didn't contribute a damn thing. I've really enjoyed the saga so far though, and hope Ginny and her daughter get home safe and sound.

Ditto! Please post pics of your arrival home with the "Beast".

Reminds me of our 240D we bought off of Fleabay, only we had it shipped from CA to WI and then dealt with problems on our home turf. My hat's off to you girl!

Ginny your trip has been closely followed by many of the forum members. This thread has been viewed over 2800 times, so you were never totally on your own!

I have too.

I have to say... I'm definitely letting this crowd know if I ever set off on a long trip even though it won't be in a strange car. Mine is strange enough and I've had it for two years... I'm quite impressed with this effort so far

Houston... Houston...

"I've wondered how they're doing all evening. I hope everything went well. We'll find out in the morning I guess......."

Kind of like when the Apollo astronauts went behind the moon and there was no communication. Good luck and here's to a safe arrival.

I got up twice, 2 AM and 4 AM to check on the status.... but nothing.

Added this adventureous duo to my evening prayers...

This is more stressful than my daughters basketball game that went to DOUBLE OVERTIME last night and included possession arrows going the wrong way that gave the other team a buzzer beater to get into Overtime and another extra possession in the second Overtime... (At least there I could yell at the top of my lungs, here I just silently push the refresh button)

I feel like a little old lady staring out the window at the nursing home.

"OK, that's it, I'm... CALLING THE COPS!!!"

Yah - it seems Ginny has earned the affection (altruistic) of the forum quite quickly - in almost an equal, equivalent couple force to oppose the hatred generated by, say Kamil or 240Joe?

And I agree Busted - if I'm making a road trip, I'm posting a thread on here too....although I may have Ginny post it for me for a better response

Should we start taking over/under bets on how many gallons of oil she consumed in the meantime? We can paypal 1/2 the winnings to Ginny.

I'm not a betting man ( other than the stock market, I suppose) but my guess is she used another 3 quarts.

I admire her spunk, even if she is a WVO user....I'm not brave enough to make that kind of drive in any of my fleet, even the ones that have been fully sorted . I just don't have the tolerance for the unexpected. Maybe if I were retired.

I suppose if I could control my own grease destiny...if I were vertically integrated I would dump WVO in my car...but NEVER my cherished W116.

My guess is that at least once she stopped and it was low enough on the stick that a full gallon was added. Necessarily or not, my bet is that no less than four quarts went into that car before it pulled into its own driveway.

I bet the large majority of posters on here weren't around for those. Do you think those animations of what the lunar lander or the service module would look like if we could see it would do much for todays viewers....
Now that was a hijack.....
