If you look around, you'll find that this kind of taxation is pretty standard for most states. Typically, you get taxed where you live AND where you work. I guess you guys were lucky that WA doesn't have an income tax... otherwise, you would have been hit up twice (live in WA / work in OR).

I have recently become aware of Senate bill 6900 relating to the tax of vehicles based on engine displacement. As a Civil Engineer, and husband of a Washington State Department of Transportation employee I am aware of how important funding for the State’s roadways is, but I believe that the State’s roadways are receiving adequate funding through the 2003 “nickel” funding package and the 2005 transportation tax package. they will vote down a tax, so if we make it a fee, we can charge more for it... oh look, an engine displacement fee... oh, look a weight fee on a car... oh look a fee for....
I guess I just have an issue with people being deceiving..

I'll gladly pay my taxes when I won't see it wasted by those who tax me. The only reason they keep coming up with new taxes is because they waste the money they get from the old taxes. There is just too much incompetence and money wasting in government. They figure the only way to fix things is with more taxes. It's just more good money going into a failing system.
