nice discovery on the coupe

well with the experience on the 300d getting rid of the hard shift. I added an orifice and got the vacuum profile correct, then turned down the modulator. shifts very nice, no slam but still firm.

i decided to look over the coupe and see what I could see since the PO said it had some trans issues. on first inspection all looked ok, then on a closer inspection of the vacuum lines i noticed the modulator vacuum line was in the place where the fresh air line from the cabin should be, on the intake side of the vcv, cool. i cant drive the car yet but everything else checks out ok. hopefully this was the trans issue. i can only get a first gear shift in the driveway so all i know now is it has a firm first to second shift with it floored.

I have been reading that HUGE post about getting your vacuum correct.. getting to the overload level....

What orifice did you decide to pick and why that one?

thanks!

i couldnt get an orifice that worked so I took a 1/2 long section of gulf tee and drilled a .04 hole in it. that brought my idle to full throttle vac profile from 10-0inHG

the coupe flares something fierce in 2-3 and 3-4. I am going to crank up the modulator tomorrow. I cant seem to get the vac profile lower tham 14-0inHG, but the 1-2 shift is not too bad so I think it will be ok. it also is in 4th by 20mph, so I will also back off the bowden to get the shift points up around 4K where I like them
