That looks like it could be a pretty decent deal. I think that probably has the OM314 engine.

Very cool. I think it would do nicely with an updated interior. That's a lot of windows

Damn, I'd love to have that. A bit far to drive, though. I bet shipping that beast would be a killer.

About an hour from me but I certainly dont need it. Its been on CL a few different times over the last few months. I bet it could be had for much less than $4k - it looks like a distress sale now.

I bet its rusted a lot - Gloucester is by the sea and MA roads are actually made with road salt, and have asphalt sprinkled on them in the summer.

I would rather have a unimog radio cab camper mounted on a unimog.

I briefly owned a similar 1973 MB Camper Bus a few years ago. Bought it off someone who had imported it from Europe. It had the 616 diesel engine and 4 speed. Man that thing was a slug (main reason I sold it)!!! Built like a tank though. I wouldn't be concerned about rust underneath too much (doubt his camper has been driven in winter salt, they are more Summer excursion vehicles) and the chassis is extremely solid on those. The body CAN rust though, obviously. Mine had had repair work on the steps inside the front doors, and the frame around the windshield was rusting at the top. otherwise, it was very solid. Wood floors on those trucks by the way, so you don't have to worry about the floor pans rotting out... These vintage MB trucks/buses (mine was the L406 type) are still living active lives in the Third World...

Didn't the 406's have the 615 engines? I thought 616's were designated as '7's'
