I think this guy is a Benz neophyte that picked this car up for a decent price and thinks he has a windfall on his hands.

It looks to be a pretty nice example assuming the mechanicals are in order. But based on what he had posted on another thread it looks like he's hoping to get something north of $10k for it. That would seem very optimistic to me but it is "museum quality" so you never know.

BTW my 80 300SD did not have a passenger side mirror when I assumed ownership 8 years ago. I pulled one off of a 450 SEL at the the junkyard and slapped it on mine.

Looks like it could be a decent car, its worth $5k-$7k. To many miles to really comand the big money, and it's far from perfect.

It's decent based on the photos, it might get $10K with the right bidders but not much more. It would be a pretty good deal for $5-7K.

Super Diesel

The best I read on craigslist here was a guy advertising his 300 SuperDiesel Turbo. Yep, that's 300SD to the rest of us.

Its a very very very nice W116 example (one of the nicest I've ever seen) but the guy's ad and claims are still rediculous.

His feedback ain't so hot either. There is enough negative there to be a RED flag for me if I was interested in it.

Well, at least he didn't refer to the car as a 300 S.T.D.

Wow, someone bought a lot of uniqueness!

I'm still a newb and all, but isn't that MBTex?

It sure looks like MB Tex to me.

I used to own a 300SD with the same color interior that was leather (brand new leather that the PO had replaced prior to me purchasing) and that does not look like the leather I had in my car.

I knew the day I sold it that I would regret doing so and every time I see a W116 in good condition like that I am reminded of just how nice mine was.

Museum quality does not mean anything. Whenever I see that I think of all the cars with flat tires and torn upholstery I have seen in Museums, not to mention what sittting does to all the mechanical stuff.
