I recently changed the motor mounts on my 93 300D 2.5 turbo. Wow what a huge difference. But upon first starting up the car after installing the mounts, i lost some glow plugs. All glow plugs were working fine prior to the mount replacement.

Specifically, the glow plug dash light does not come on until after the engine was started (indication of 2 or more plugs not working, right?). This was first observed on the first startup after the mount replacement. The engine started rough and smoked for 10-15 secs until all cylinders firing. You can still here the relay kicking off after about 30 secs, so i know the relay is still good and providing juice. None of the above conditions have changed in the month or so since i changed the mounts.

I am going to test the plugs this weekend with a meter, but was just curious if anyone knows what i could have done during motor mount replacement to cause some of the glow plugs to stop working...just seems like too much of a coincidence not to interrelated?

I don't know if this applies to your vehicle, but with some models there have been wiring harness issues, where the wires become brittle and break. If you had the occasion to move or disturb either the harness, or the wires going to the glow plugs, I would look in that area first. As you mentioned in your post, I would check the ohm reading on each glow plug to insure that they are all functioning, and also the continuity of the wires going to each plug from the relay. Hope you have an easy solution to your issue.
