Fuel heater issues.........OM603
I have a fuel leak from a device on the driver side. I am not sure what the part is called, but is has two fuel lines and two I think coolent lines running to it. I think it is a fuel heater. The end that comes from the filter started to leak. When I was checking it, it seemed like the white plastic end is loose. Is there a o-ring in it, or can it be fixed or do I have to replace the whole thing?
What is the part called so I know what to ask/look for? Thanks for any help. 87 300d

It might be the fuel filter. Can you post a pic?

'It's called a fuel Thermostat (Go Figure)
Does it look like #125 or #127 in the attached diagram?
(What in the bloody hell did we do before the RU website?) The white plastic part is the "loose" part on yours? It is retained inside the metal housing(basically a heat exchange unit for the fuel) by a little circlip(if your circlip is missing, that would account for the "looseness".) Looking from the front of the engine compartment ,rearwards the little circlip should be visible in the large mouth of the "Thermostat".Snap ring pliers will r+r the circlip. The circlip is called a "Lock Ring" Part # 000984028001 (it's #161 on diagram) Last edited by compress ignite; 02-23-2008 at 03:27 PM. |

After all of the help form the site I was able to get it a part and get a o-ring from NAPA as a temp fix until I can order the real parts.
Thanks for all of the help.
