I have W126 cars.

I can't vote because they have OM603's (are 300SDL's and 350SD).

But, I have gotten 30 + mpg in each of them. Typically average 28 - 30 mpg.

Will it stop going up?

Two weeks ago- 28.23mpg.
Today- 29.56mpg.

I'm going to drive a bit more gingerly this week and see if I can break 30.

Well, I just paid over $42 for 11 gallons x $3.83 to fill up 'Miss Diesel', my automatic '82 240D. Good thing I usually only fill it once a month.
According to the odometer, I got about 20 mpg on the previous tankfull. That's with nearly exclusively short-trip, stop & go local driving, and before I changed the thermostat and injector hoses. So I'm still hoping for a noticeable MPG improvement with this tankfull.
Or else 'Miss Diesel' may wind up with parked more often.
(And I may have to get my moped out of mothballs!)

Happy Motoring, Mark
