Trailer hitch for the old girl

Time to put the old girl to work.
The hitch I have built will not fasten to the bumper because I have had a bumper actually fall off from corrosion at the mount points. The new bumper is grounded to the frame.

The receiver, 1 ¼” will apply the down load to a box section with two bars that clamp to either side of the box. The bars are deep enough to apply the squeeze to the horizontal top and bottom of the section to prevent the box from collapsing. The stability will come from the 3/8 x 3” flat bar fastening to bottom of the spare tire basket.

The point of load is farther back from the rear support point than I would like but I am sure will not be a problem with a utility trailer with 2500# gvw and a 300# tongue weight.

I was not able to buy a receiver only so I used a 2” to 1 ¼” adapter then shortened up the 2”end.

Let you know if I have any problems.
