Brake caliper life span
I went to replace the brake pads on the front passenger side (300TD) and noticed I could not get the inside caliper side to retract. The rubber looks good. I tried C-clamps, a screwdriver, a wedge bar - it will not budge.
This caliper (Bendix) is only 4 years old. It was a rebuilt unit. Anyone else have similar short life span to their calipers? Are there any other tricks to get it to retract? Thanks

Make sure the piston is not cockeyed in the caliper or it will jam and not move. If you replace your brake fluid every couple years brake calipers should last a looooong time.

loosen the caliper bleed screw then retract the piston. Any why just one side? Also if the rubber hose to the caliper is original, it can restrict back flow of fluid.
