Parallel flow condenser

From my searches here, swapping in a parallel flow condenser seems to be wise when changing to R134a air conditioning.

I'm having trouble finding a source, however. My application is a 1981 123 (300D) chassis no. 224431.

Anyone know a parallel flow condenser source?

No I don't but living here in Phoenix, Arizona we need AC! I converted mine to ES12 (Envirosafe) after replacing all my O rings and seals and it cools as good as R12 or better without the hassle of R134A! And no parrallel condensor was necessary. This is a completely legal conversion as long as you do it right and Evirosafe has no Biologically harmful side effects either!

Your going to get much better performance form your engine as well as an improvement in fuel economy too since ES 12 operates at lower pressures and it takes less of it! Your compressor will also love it, it's not having to work as hard to do the same job and ES 12 requires a lot LESS horsepower or Killowatts to cool!

Don`t even think about using LP or Propane, fire ,explosion if you have a leak. It does cool well, but is illegal to use it.
Some where is my pile of stuff here on the desk, I ran across a picture of a vehicle that had a leak and fire, think it was a 240Z or one of those.
At work we had a pictire of a Toyota 4 runner that the guy placed his accetelyne torches and there was an explosion, opened the car like a can opener.

There is a guy on E-Bay, user name SYMBOLGUY. he has CD`s on the 123 & 126. I bought one for mounting the Paraelle flow condensor. They are more efficient than the stock one. I think a filter of some type can be inline incase the compressor fails.

1) Not much power

Anyone that thinks a 240D is slow drives too fast.

I'm hearing more and more folks who are happy with Envirosafe. I need to get the R134A outta China. How vigorous would I have to flush the system? {compatibility of oils from R134A to Envirosafe}
I've heard of a person or two getting a parallel flow condenser from ackits.com. An inline filter would be a must.....

I've installed an ackits condenser. Works great. Had to get two custom hoses and I am using Freeze 12.

I'm very happy with Envirosafe and it is Legal as long as you replace all your seals and put on the R134A fittings, Envirosafe charges the same way. There is a lot of panic about Envirosafe being explosive, but almost all of it is pure bull. Sure it will explode if you do stupid stuff with it and R134A is twice as likely to not only explode, but more violently and poisonous gas causing permanent brain damage and death results. Even R 12 would turn into phosgene gas, a deadly and toxic gas that kills without warning. Envirosafe does none of those things and if you use standard safety precautions, you will be fine!

Envirosafe is compatible with oil from R134A or R12. Since you have to take your system apart anyway to retrofit, just use compressed air to blow the excess oils out of your system. R12 oil is still easy to get and in my opinion, it makes for a better lubricant. Envirosafe charges with the can upside down and goes in your system in a liquid form. Diesel engines do not have fuel anywhere near as flammable like gasoline or electrics for ignition. A good quality guage set is necessary since sight glass readings are meaningless here. Since it requires about 1/2 the energy to make it cool, a parallel condensor isn't necessary. Your fuel economy will be much better and your system will see a longer service life!

I don't understand how you can say that R134A is more likely to explode at standard temperature and pressure than what essentially is an alkane close to propane. Alkanes mixed with air have a good chance of exploding. There are things even in a diesel powered vehicle (e.g. relays) that can cause ignition.

R12 was used as a propellant in Albuterol inhalers until very recently. Some still use it.

Because R134A has to be charged at a much higher system pressure than ES 12. ES 12 requires about 1/3rd to 1/2 less. R 12 turns into deadly phosgene gas at high temperatures, such as discharging onto a hot exhaust mainfold. There is a lot more molecular room for ES 12 than R134A. The high side of ES12 is almost the same as the low side of R134A.

Look, all chemicals are dangerous if you don't handle them properly. ES 12 will not do damage to the environment and R134A will still deplete the ozone layer. If your so afraid of fire under your hood, your awfully close to fossil fuels which have to be ignited to make you go. And those damn rubber fuel lines, why if one of those broke and caught fire, you wouldn't stand a chance!

Do a search on parallel condensors. Make note that you will need the fittings custom made so that it is a simpler bolt in replacement. I also understand the the parallel flows are difficult to flush in the event of a catastrophic compressor failure.
