You can't do it by accident. You'd need to disconnect the plug at the controller. The plugs are on during cranking.

Oh.....I get ya. Ya know.... I'll just bet it will. Interesting science experiment.

It's just that, if I just put the key in and start it immediately, like a gasser, if fires right up. It's like the flywheel rotates about once and boom.

Oh and another thing I discovered,... was that there is a "RED" part of the Temp wheel that's been hidden all these years. Found it by accident the other day. All I ever used was the "BLUE" part.

Anybody know what the the Red part is actually used for ????

Shorted glow plug or wire from the relay to the plug. Cannot be anything else I can think of unless you are buying the wrong amperage fuse strip. There are two. One at 50 amps and one at 80 ampes I believe.

My 300SD quit showing the GP light and took about 20 seconds of crank to get it started....tested all the GP's from the plug and found all but one to be direct short. then I tested my wifes 300D to see if I needed to order a double load of GP's.

The 300D also showed all dead short, but the GP light worked and the car fired every time.

So now I suspect bad meter, but that won't explain the GP light. Pulled out GP number 2 to test it direct...still shows direct short, but when connected to voltage it burns HOT.

Installed number two back into motor and now GP light is working again.....and car is starting right up....

Arghhhhhhhh, that's frustrating, but I'll take it!!

But I'm guessing carbon build up shorting out during test. I'd ream them, test them with the booster cables out of the car, (crap, you southern types probably don't have no stinkin booster cables!), then replace and test with the meter.
