Does your MB mark its spot in the garage or driveway???
I found a great solution to the problem of the wife's 300D occasional drop of oil on the floor and my dropping a little fuel or oil when changing filters. Thought some here might find this useful as I have.
We done a little rearranging in the house and had stored a carpet protector for the computer chair for some time folded up to reuse later but decided we did not need it and was wonder what to do with it as it was almost unused. Then just a couple of weeks ago I put it out on the deck to see if it would warm up and lay flat and it did, so a few days go by and while I was outside grilling some pork steaks it dawned on me what to do with this big heavy piece of plastic. Next day while wife was I work I laid it on the garage floor where she parks. It is a perfect fit and catches any of the drippings and is not obvious ugly looking thing like a large floor pan that they have in parts stores.

Believe it or not, both the 617 and the 603 are not leaking any oil at the present time. All leaks are fixed on the 617 and the 603 never did have any leaks..........only consumes oil into the cylinders.
But, the 603 has a massive transmission leak that I've been loathe to investigate....... |

The wife's car is strange, it has a oil pan seal leak in front. But what is funny is it will leak for a day or maybe a week or two, then just quit leaking. Never seen a car do that before, but I guess there is a first time for everything.

Does MB have a part number for oil dry? I keep an area of oil dry under mine. An old cookie sheet with a couple of absorbant pads work good too. It has the turbo oil return line leak, and I noticed the PS pulley wet the other day.

I love your idea, but we don't have one of those laying around, and if we got one it would go in the back of the wagon as a cargo mat to protect the carpet

At the moment, knock on wood, mine doesn't really seem to have any leaks serious enough to drip. I think I may have won the battle of the transmission, I just won the PS system battle, and now I just need to fight the IP leakage battle and the war should be won! For the moment at least...
Leaks on these things are a never ending fight, you just have to keep up on them so they don't get ahead of you.

Don't know about part numberbut cheap kitty litter and cardboard works for me. This summer I hope to get leaks fixed. I think mine has to do with air housing drain.

Mine has decided that everywhere I go must be it's property, as it's marking it all.
Enough blowby that it's pressurizing the crankcase and blowing oil out under the valve cover gasket... I'm just hoping that I can get my SEC back on the road before the engine dumps on me, as it's my only reasonable transportation until the weather turns away from this white flaky stuff. (In March, almost April!!)

Mine leaves a little spot from the front crank case sometimes. Sometimes the oil kind of gathers under the oil pan and then lets loose a drip. So the driveway gets a kind of dalmatian look to it, as does the garage floor. I put an old flat cardboard box under it ... more to keep track of leaks than to keep the floor clean, but it serves both purposes. I have my belly pan off the car permanently so it does turn every little oil leakage into a paintstroke on the neverending work of art it's creating on driveways, parking lots and garages around the state. It's still pretty light, though.
Most of my neighbors, whose cars are 10-15 years younger than mine, have oilier driveways than mine!

My transmission leaves its mark wherever it goes. My dad thinks it's... oh I have no idea what he said it was. But it's a seal that goes between the engine and the transmission (torque converter maybe) - it would involve pretty much taking the engine out to get to it, or alternatively dropping the transmission from the bottom which we aren't really equipped for.

Its the front seal on the trans, you would drop the trans to get at it. Its actualy not that hard to do in these cars, a trans jack is really all you need.

Mine mark both the driveway and the garage.

she used to leak a good amount until I did a valve adjustment and noticed I did not torque down the right rear corner to the correct value..nice puddle of oil by the corner.
Now she leakes.. like a dime sized drip every now and then |
