Diagram Request
I have been lurking for a fiew months on this forum, but never needed to join, you can find almost anything on here via search. I aquired a 83 300SD in fair shape for a good price recently. I've been watching for a 300 for over a year. I plan on making BioD and running the car on it. On to my real questions though.
First, does anyone have an "explosion diagram" or parts diagram for the lower area of the oil filter? I have a leak in that area and I think there is a seal or gasket that seals the filter housing to the IP/Block area, I belive that is where my leak is. Bimmer fans (me as well) have realoem.com and it has great diagrams w/ part names and numbers, but I can't find anything like that for MB. Could someone please post a photo of this? Also, does anyone have and WORKING links to a PDF or something shop manual? I've been brousing here for a fiew days trying to find one that works. All the posts reguarding this are 2 years old or more and the links either don't work (Site Cannot Be Found) or the manual no longer exists. Or if someone has a copy they could email me that would be great also. I just need the engine manual for now. I have several problems I need to work out. Thank you everyone and have a great firday!! Manuals
For the blow-up diagram I suggest EPC, the Mercedes on-line parts manual. You have to subscribe but it's now free (used to cost $20/year). See this link.
Manuals for this engine (617.951 if I read it right) are available in paper form and on CD-ROM from a variety of sources. Paper manuals for your engine show up on eBay occasionally. You could also search on Abebooks, my favorite used-book search place. The closest I can find in the Mercedes classic center here is a CD-ROM manual for the 123-bodied cars for $19.99. You have the same engine so it will be helpful. Jeremy

Thanks for your help!
I forgot one question guys. The ball pivot things for the Throttle linkage (what are these called?), how do you tighten these up? I think part of my problem is the fact that one of them that runs to the box thing on the left front of the motor (on top, what is it?) too the transmission vaccume valve thing on the center of the valve cover. The rod has 1.5-2" of play because the ball thing can move so freely. They are not bolted down...I realy should go and look, but I'm at work and won't be home untill sunday night. Any tips? I'd hate to weld it... Thanks guys! |

Check the bushing near the firewall that connects the linkage.

I don't know. Do you have to replace the pivot things to get the play out of it or is there suposted to be a busing or something in the bottom? The play is in the base where is it connected to the metal plate, not really in the ball its self. It also looks the same as all the others with no play... I hate to break the welder out for this, lol.

The second two are of the front, and rear of the bushing itself.
