Did it still have the engine in it? They charge $200 for an engine here....and that does not include the alternator, starter, power steering, etc.....all that stuff is EXTRA.

Yes, it was a complete car with a frozen engine.

Ecology

Ecology in Oceanside said they would take it for.....$75. Breaks my heart. I'm going to pull as much off of it as I can. I can't afford to have it towed to my house to part it out (which is what I'd rather do)- it's 70 miles away. So...cut the losses. Awful.

I think it's actually the control arm that fell off....the brackets it was bolted to rusted off. Rust has been eating this car for awhile.

So sad...the engine was running so well!

I would find a good non rusty car with a dead engine and swap the motor over since you have done the work to get the motor good. then I would take the good stuff like the interior and then finally scrap what is unuable.

Good luck.

auto club or insurance might pay for the first part of it, after you strip it you should still be able to get the $75

Aw, it's sad to see that car finally gave the ghost. That was my first car.

I know..I was going to email you and let you know Patrick...I'm totally bummed too. I really fixed everything and it's been running so well. Everything but that glow plug relay...I just changed out the switch for that one.

You just can't fight rust after a certain point. It's a good lesson.

I'd be interested in putting the engine in another car if I had time and money and a hoist....but the compression is pretty weak, and I don't have any of those things.

$300-350 per car seems to be what the u-pick will pay around here too...

The demand is low and the engine parts are all non interchangeable....for the most part since the car is a W115 and her other car is a W123 so that won't work.

If was back in LA I would help you tow it with my truck.

Matt300SD is in Escondido....

My 1976 300D came from San Diego and the rear floorpans are rusted through so that you can see the road while driving. I guess it's the moisture, and salt that does it. The engine has been removed, if you WANT my chassis ....you can have it because that one has to be towed away too within a month or so. Other than the rusty rear floorpans the rest is fair......perhaps part two cars to make one decent one?
