Advice Needed: 1990 300D
Hi all, I might have the chance to pick up a 1990 300D 2.5 Turbo cheap. Once I get a chance to speak more with the seller, I will report back w/ price condition, etc. I have owned a W124 diesel before and loved it, however, it was a naturally aspirated 606. Is a 1990 300D with the 2.5 gonna be a reliable and bulletproof as the 1995 E300D I had......or for the matter the 300SD? Do these motors have any rod bending issues?

No Rod bending issues, very good engines, some minor computer control of the EGR system that is easily done away with.(for off road use of course) Do a search for posts by GSXR and read his 124 information.I have a 91 with around 144,000 miles and i love it.

I'm liking mine. I just picked it up a couple of weeks ago. It has a few minor issues (iffy AC, hard shifting tranny, and loose/stretched out accelerator cable) but nothing major. Compared to my W123, it's a bit finicky but not by much. However, I will be keeping my w123 as a back up. It's reliable like a pump action shot gun.
