I see that Exxon has changed it's synthetic ATF from Dexron to Mercon.

Why?

So, what is the preferred fluid now that Exxon Synthetic ATF can't be used in our cars?

(Yes, I did a search, but nothing on this came up.)

DEXRON-III licensing will be ending soon, thats why they changed their labels. DEXRON-VI is backwards compatible.
