Talking Used a glow plug reamer what a difference 81SD

Used a glow plug reamer on my wifes SD and the thing fires right up now . We used to have to plug it in to get it to start even in the middle of the afternoon temps in the med 40`s. It fired right up this morning no plug in temp right at freezing. Best part is I got her off my ass. I went from being a moron to a genius until she finds something else wrong with it.

You might "tactfully" suggest she drive the car a little harder, keep the RPMs up a bit more.

The difference is from the new glowplug, not the ream job.

Did you put in any new glow plugs?

As for the Wife; years ago I induced a girlfriend into doing an oil change herself. After that was over with I explained to her that that was one of the easiest things to do on the car as far as repair and maint. She never again rushed me when I worked on her car.
Now that I am married and my Wife gets picky (the Mercedes is her car) about some repair work I always offer to show here how to do it if she wants to try.

My wife gets all happy when I'm on a car or house project. I usually work in goofing around or fishing (running to Home Depot for those special screws). Tomorrow morning I'm going shad fishing and grocery shopping. Guess which one I'll spend more time doing. And, its likely that I'll discuss shad fishing for a long while at the store. Awesome time of year.

I did replace one glow plug. Tested the plugs on the first three I did and they were good did a compression check, reamed them and put the plugs back in. I forgot that I didn`t ckeck the 4th one. I did a compression check and installed a new plug that I ordered. So that glow plug was probably bad. I got the reamer for about $20 with the glow plugs, but from what I read those aren`t the best glow plugs probably why the reamer was so cheap ,Monarch. I`ve still got the 5th cylinder to do.Had my knee scoped so I can`t do a whole lot at once yet.So far the compression has been pretty good 280 was the worst in the #4 the one with the bad plug. All the rest right around 350.I guess it`s not so good that the numbers are not close to the same. Can someone explain a little more on why the compression #`s should be with in 30 lbs I think it is. Thank`s Rick
