Window Switches

Don't know what year you have, but i'll assume the switches are the same as on my '78 300D. Have you tried taking the switches apart? They might just need a cleaning. I had problems with one of mine and that was all it took. They are simple to tear down and clean. You might want to try swapping switches around to determine if it is truely a switch problem.

Good luck!

What year is your 300D? The 300D came in two or three incarnations. 1977 through 1985 are the 123 body style, which was also used for the 240D, 230, 280E and modified slightly for the 300TD (station wagon), 300CD and 280CE (coupes). It gained a turbocharger in 1981 so you'll sometimes see them referred to as 300Dt, 300CD-T, etc. Since the 123 300D's are perhaps the most common, I'll write the rest of this under the assumption that that's what you have.

Which window switches are missing? If ONLY the switches are missing, then it's easy to simply procure some new switches and pop them back into place. Also, are they in the center console between the front seats or on the doors themselves? If the harness receptacle for the switch has fallen into the console or door, you may have to gently disassemble some pieces to get to the wiring harness to plug the switch back in. For the console, just slide the console trim back toward the rear of the car, then left up a little bit to get to the wiring underneath. For the doors, you can remove the door panels but it's a slightly more lengthy process.

You can get new replacement switches from PartsShop or maybe even FastLane (click links above). New electrical parts are sometimes pricey, though. For the 123 body style, good used electrical (and other) parts can often be had for pennies from a U-Pull-It junkyard.

Please post more details if you need more information. The more detail you give, the more this community can help you out!
