Non-Benz Diesel Repair Success Story
My neighbor out here at the farm has a 4-5 year old Deere 5510 and the other day Dad reported that he'd heard Bill cranking it for a long, long time before it started.
I guess it finally crapped out because Bill called me yesterday afternoon and asked if I had any ideas about what might be preventing it from starting and to see if I'd help him with it. Basically, it would run a minute and quit and then, if you shot a little air pressure to the fuel tank, it would run again for a minute or two. So, it sounded like a fuel starvation problem or a badly clogged fuel filter. We replaced the filter and when I went to prime the system, the primer pump didn't feel like it was doing squat. I disassembled it and it turned out that there was some bug bodies contaminating the fuel and their little carcasses had gotten caught in the primer pump check valve on the fuel filter assembly. I pulled the check valve out, blew the guck out and it cranked up! w00t!

Good show Randy, its nice too be able to help a neighbor out. A good friend of mine has an excavator with a little three cylinder Isuzu diesel that I was able to help him rebuild in my farm shop. Sweet engine, totally different than an 616 tho.
