Please post pic of transmission dipstick tube on 606

I have a transmission fluid leak coming from the dipstick tube. Last week I removed the tube to inspect it and putting it back the way I found it took a little force. This doesn't seem right. The bolt that holds the tube to the side of the head is not original so this got me thinking that the PO may not have put it back together properly.

Can somebody post a picture of their tube where it connects to the head and anywhere else it is supposed to be bolted down? I also found a bracket on the tube that wasn't bolted to anything.

Thank you.

Thank you very much for the pics! The PO certainly twisted the tube up to get it back on there. It looks like they used a different hole to bolt the tube to and bent it over the down pipe flange.

Looks like I will be ordering a new one tomorrow.

Yes Sir, the proper hole is the one in the very back, as seen in your pic. The plastic ring is for the trans kickdown ( Bowden) cable.

Gene,

on the '98/'99 there is tube that comes from the egr valve to where the trans dip stick is. The dipstick goes inside of that tube, ie closer to the motor, otherwise it will not bolt up and you will have to bend. The egr tube or whatever it's called has a clamp, comes apart and the dipstick tube can be snuck in there. Let me know if you need a picture.
