Lightbulb I think I know what's wrong.

So I was reading post on here rather than doing my take home final for Astronomy and I came across an article about blow by. It was said that loss of compression can cause heating on the highway, which is exactly what my 240D is doing. I heard a valve adjustment can help greatly. Now I know my car REALLY needs one, my 240D is seriously... a POW. The past owner didn't do anything to this car other than park it and drive it. It had the same air filter for years, with literally caked on mud. Now I KNOW this PO did not have a valve adjustment at all in the past year maybe 2 years. heck with him it's probably never been done. So could this be a fix? and anyways if it isn't I still want it done because I know it needs one.

By all means do a valve adjustment....and probably other things too if thats how it was treated! What is wrong with people in this country....they just love to abuse equipment till it breaks, then throw it away for a new one....

Amen to that! I'm surprised my 240D is doing as good as it is for the abuse it went though. The PO spilled all this like red crap everywhere. I had to throw the center console carpet away because i couldn't get that crap out. (Lucky for me though, my dad is a professional detailer) There were like 4 empty bottles under the drivers seat and French fires that probably date back to the time of the dinosaurs... The tires wires was showing on most of the tires, He plugged the door lock vacuum line to avoid other probs with the vacuum system. The ash tray was missing I could go on and on.... Point be taken! Take care of your cars!!!!!!
