rube goldberg on bypass oil filters
Has anyone disabled the factory oil cooler thermostat to use the oil cooler line to feed a bypass oil filter? It should be simple to fit a thermostat downstream of the bypass filter to direct oil to the oil cooler if necessary or back to the engine if not.

And what would be the purpose?

Or, you could tap the oil filter housing at any point on the body and use that as the bypass oil source.

Good point - is the factory oil cooler upstream or downstream of the factory filter?

The oil cooler is before the filter (Dirty oil).
