Finally some awesome mileage

Yeppers,

Picked up my new Ducati friday.

Already put 500 miles on her.

Now I get 45mpg not caring 50+ with care.

Not only mileage,,, heck I can run the AMG $100k cars.

BTW,, this puppy love to corner.

My diesel alter ego...

(always wanted a hot Italian between my legs)

Very cool, I've always liked the monster. I thing the exposed frame is very cool, I don't like plastic bikes. Someday I will pick one up (it's on my list of toys).

well, I have an 86 Virago 1100, that I am thinking of driving to work etc... should be around 60mpg. but I don't know... the image of a bug on a windshield always comes to mind...

I also have a 4speed tercel two door. getting a new motor and trans put in it, so I have some choices... perhaps put the virago up for sale.

My old BMW only gets around 40 mpg, but I'll take any excuse I can get to ride instead of being in a car.

Craig,

My last bike (pre "D") was a BMW. I had a Boxer Cup Replica.
Sort of a Gentleman's sport bike.
Did quite a few track days on her.

I love those R80's and all those from that era.

Yup, the boxers are pretty cool. Slower than the monster, but still cool. Occasionally I'm tempted to get something a little quicker to play with, but I'd still keep the beamer.

Have fun with your new toy.

Yeah crotch rockets are fun. I'm on my 3rd Honda... I know I know its not euro but its a nice toy, gets great mileage and handles like it was set on rails.

I can only dream of a Beamer or Duke... $$$$

Try a 996, my friend keeps talking about buying one. Took one around a parking lot, felt like an Enzo compared to the crotch rocket Suzuki I messed with Friday.

Nothing sounds like a Ducati.

I agree, if/when I feel the need to go faster (at greater expense) I will buy a Ducati.

Uhh...just wait until you have to adjust the valves; the dealers charge a fortune. And don't even think about buyiing a valve shim kit; I hear they're more than $500. Cheap economy, high maintenance.

My /2 gets 45 mpg, but at 26 hp it doesn't have the power to get out of its own way .

Isn`t this all about diesel power? there are Diesel motorcycles, read some about them don`t remember where the article was. think they are being built in England. Milage might be good.

Why is it that motorcycles don't get better mileage than that? I mean my 3000 lb Jetta that can seat 5 people gets about that much. I'd think a 400 lb or so chunk of metal should do better than that.

sometimes it comes down to aerodynamics.. function of speed is inversely related to the square of the pi to apple sauce..

something like that
