85 300D - what to look for when buying

Hi all,

I'm going to go see an 85 300D this weekend. The guy is selling it for $975 - I'm guessing it is either junk or he doesn't know how much it is worth. 221,000 miles, post says runs great, looks great, some rust. This could be good...

Apart from the normal things to look for, is there anything that is a time-bomb type of thing to look for on these models? I've looked at a couple of w124s so I am slightly familiar with them, but have never looked at a w123. I plan on doing a quick blow-by test, and if it seems good enough I will try to take it somewhere to get checked out...but for that price, I am willing to make repairs! I'm just going to assume that the a/c doesnt work, but oh well..you never know.

I guess I am just looking to see if there are any "walk away" signs to look out for.

Thanks
