Only the '85 year model in the w123 came with the 2.88 gears. The '85 w126 did also, but I don't know about the '86 or higher.

All of the 5W-40 oils that I have seen have a much higher diesel rating than any 0W-40 oil.

Look for rust rust rust!

Rust in the rockers, Rust in the spare tire well and trunk corners, rust under the carpets in the rear seat area, rust under the battery...

As I understand it the Mobil1 5w40 oils are well into the 40 weight area, whereas the 0w40 is almost a 0w30.

well sunday were going to drive 3 hours to check it out, owner states was a california car, the price he's asking I expect to see no rust. In regards to 0w40 you guys all scared me I going to be doing sos (oil analysis) on my cummins and tdi see what kind of partical count I end up with
