Vacuum Control Valve Bypass
This is for my 85 300sd (I believe CA emissions)
well I diagnosed my problems so far and it seems like i have it isolated. I am experiencing the usual hard shift and clunking when coming to a stop. Long story short, I am getting aprox 16" of vac at inlet of the VCV. My VCV has a total of 3 ports. One coming in from a line with a green dashpot on it and 2 ports coming out of it. One goes to the vacuum transducer ( the blue flying saucer) and the other outlet goes to a 3 way valve that ends up going to a different plug on the flying saucer. IIRC Top center of flying saucer goes to the green vacuum modulator on the driver side of the tranny. Both of the outlet ports have nearly no vacuum my gauge reads approx 4". I will measure the vacuum which goes to the green vacuum modulator on the tranny itself and post my results. I will also take some photos to help us all. I have read a lot of threads on vacuum for the 123's. Although it is similar, iv had some trouble applying it to my 85 300sd. So is it common to bypass the VCV? It appears that if i try to bypass the VCV, i will also need to bypass the blue flying saucer and the 3 way valve which is mounted right in front of it along the wheel well. Is this recommended or should the VCV be replaced for my model?? can i hook up the supply which went to the top of my VCV straight into my green vac modulator on my tranny? What are my options
