Replacing the Transmission

I have a 1985 300SD. The transmission was re-sealed and after about a year the transmisison is leaking again and it appears to be from the front. Speaking with a mechanic I was told the next step was to replace the transmission or "refresh" it. Is this the correct direction or should I try to reseal the front again? Also, should I replace the transmission how do you adjust the linkages?

Thanks

If it's only leaking, i.e., performs acceptably, then some front seals should be good enough.

I replaced 2 MB transmissions (78 450SEL, 81 300SD) and didn't have to worry about adjusting shift linkage.

Replacing the transmission

I will most likely drop the transmission and inspect to determine where the leak is coming from. The linkages I was discussing were those connected to the accelerator pedal.

Thanks for the reply.

Bowden cable? I didn't adjust that either.
